RSS readers meet Social Networking
The convergence of web trends continues unabated. Here is a company trying to use social networks to help people prioritize the articles they read through their RSS readers. The article in MIT’s Technology Review wisely points out the problem that any seventh grader would see–people don’t have time to maintain a bunch of separate social nets. Ideally–and I’ve been saying this for years now–social networks will open their API up to a wide variety of trusted partners whose applications become far more valuable with them. It looks like this is happening a bit with sites like Eurekster tapping the Friendster social net. But it needs to get much more pervasive.
