Event-based blogvertising with WOMTag

I’m now listening Sriram from womtag.com who is explaining his service, which seems inspired by the explosion of activity in the social events space. By getting sponsors of events and bloggers to use the same unique tag, associated with a CPM set by the blogger, there is a natural mechanism for linking the sponsor message with the relevant content.

Womtag itself provides a directory managing unique tags such as “tagcamp” with associated metadata (demographics, etc). The tag must must must be unique for this to work. They then presumably deliver the ad into blog posts on an ad hoc basis.

Rather than a keyword replacement system (too open to spam), this is a consensus based approach that mines the long tail of event-oriented advertising. Could be interesting.
